Commercial Knox Box

Burton Fire Department Commercial Knox Box Program

The Burton Fire Department is committed to protecting our community while reducing response times and minimizing property damage during emergencies. As part of this effort, we encourage all commercial property owners to participate in the Knox Box Program.

What is a Knox Box?

Knox Box is a secure, tamper-proof key safe installed on the exterior of a building. It stores keys, access cards, or other vital entry tools that firefighters may need in an emergency. Only the Burton Fire Department has master keys to open these boxes.

Benefits of the Program

  • Faster emergency response β€“ Firefighters can quickly gain access without waiting for a key holder.
  • Reduced property damage β€“ Eliminates the need to force entry through doors or windows.
  • Improved safety β€“ Allows firefighters to reach fire alarm panels, sprinkler controls, and hazardous material storage areas immediately.
  • Peace of mind β€“ Your property is secured at all times, with access limited exclusively to the fire department.

Who Should Have a Knox Box?

  • Commercial businesses
  • Industrial facilities
  • Multi-tenant buildings
  • Nursing homes and assisted living facilities
  • Any property with fire alarm or sprinkler systems
